The Twaddle

This is the treatment for my latest fiction book called “The Twaddle.”

*******

Jesica’s manager at the grocery store told her to go pick up Missy Graves at the metro-cities airport. The grocery store had offered to fly Miss Missy in on economy class. Not wanting to sniff the air of the hoi poloi, Miss Graves had chosen to fly on her own private jet. The humble-singer-turned-talented-snob had no idea her manager had booked her rising star self at a small grocery store in a tiny town. Granted, every single person in town was her biggest fan and had bought more of her CDs and downloads per square foot than any other tiny town in America. Maybe her manager was attempting to remind the young starlet of her humble roots. Or maybe her manager just wasn’t that great at her job. Everyone wants to be Jerry Maguire, but most never get a Cuba Gooding, Jr. as their famous client. Whatever the reason, Miss Missy was in for a big surprise. As Jesica was being directed by her boss, Miss Graves was sleeping on her ten-inch memory foam bed-in-the-air as her ship sailed another hour out from landing.

No one in Tiny Town knew why the grocery store was having a Grand Re-opening. Word was that it had been bought out by a grocery conglomerate and would be totally turned on its head within the coming months. They knew Mister Billings, the current owner, was the richest man in town. However, his wealth was piddling compared to those who gambled daily on small-town America as if it were a lazy pastime, rather than peoples’ lives and livings they were betting on. Land, houses, and businesses throughout the state were being Hoovered up as if by a hungry anteater. Even if the next generation had jobs and the drive for the American dream, there were very few real estate opportunities for them in their tiny town they loved.

Jesica was happy to drive The Twaddle to pick up Miss Missy Graves at the airport. She wasn’t sure why the limo that Mister Billings had booked wasn’t doing it. Probably too many important people in the metro-cities, she reckoned, and not enough important cars to go around. Of course, she considered The Twaddle the very most important car one could have for shuttling important people.

The Twaddle was known around town. It looked like a cross between a soldered together depressing grey prison transport bus but with white stripes and flames on the sides like a radically irreverent Mom’s minvan. It had been a steal at the car show in the metro-cities some years back. The car designer and the car company had come to realize there was no “irreverent mom slash prisoner” demographic to be found and had gladly sold it to a fiery Jesica.

Jesica had promptly named her new car The Twaddle, because her English teacher in high school had told her that was the Latin word for beautiful. Tiny Town had only had a Latin class one semester. There were not enough brainiacs to support further teaching of it. The school and city required nuts and bolts learning if its kids were to get jobs one day. The English teacher who had taught that semester of Latin promptly left the area, looking for a more stimulating teaching environment in which to teach students incredibly inaccurate Latin. And perhaps English as well.

Jesica used the Twaddle to Uber all over town. More often though, people would just wave her down from the side of the road and get a lift somewhere and pay her a few dollars. Inside was a super comfortable setup. The Twaddle seated eight. It had been designed to have a common table in the back, with six bucket seats around it. Presumably for kids to start their homework on the way home. Or else to have a place to shackle prisoners too. No one was quite sure why there were very sturdy bolts built into the frame of the transport vehicle.

Jesica took great pride in The Twaddle and loved it probably more than her fiance-boyfriend. But less than her cat.

Jimmy heard the store manager giving directions to Jesica. He decided he would be the one to pick up Miss Missy Graves. He was a handsome young fella and figured this was his chance to 1)woo her, 2)make her smitten, 3)marry him, and 4)make him rich. Those were rather big plans for someone from such a tiny town.

Jimmy jumped in his souped-up truck and hauled out down the four-lane, headed for the highway. His tires were so large that he had installed an automatic fold-down stepping stool on the passenger side. He had gotten the ladder when the local firefighters sold off old equipment. Then he cut it down to size, and had done the installation himself. It was for the ladies to be able to amble easily into his truck. Sadly, there had not been any ladies yet; but he was hoping the unfolding step-up ladder would be the beginning of impressing Miss Graves.

Jimmy remembered a line from reading the Autobiography of Malcolm X, that surely one of the men would’ve been a brilliant Wall Street guy if he had had the chance, but was instead a bookie and numbers runner. Jimmy thought of himself similarly. Given the chance, his welded, electronic, self-unfolding truck steps would’ve made him an asset in Silicon Valley, if only he’d had the chance to find a way out of Tiny Town.

Jimmy and Jesica are twins and they still live at home. Because there are not great jobs and not great housing choices to be had. Their Dad, who drives a small compact car, does not understand his children’s big ambitions and even bigger cars. But he supports them as much as he can nonetheless. He had even laid down a whole new concrete section of driveway, right up to the towering elm outside their house.

I hope you enjoyed this hilarious yet serious look inside “The Twaddle.”

Who’s Gonna Feed You?

This blog post idea started as “Who’s Gonna Feed Sarah?,” rather than the more generic “You”. The answer is that only Sarah feeds Sarah. So I better start doing a better job at it!

I realized I will do so many other things besides necessary things. Of which that is often food prep or to make a meal. Especially the hearty meals like dinners. I don’t “FEEL” like doing it and ready made processes foods are so much easier, fast, and so delish.

But I had a realization that NO ONE is gonna feed Sarah if I don’t.  An occasional person might give me an occasional small meal, treat, or gift. But that is only a few times per year. And I know that if I don’t have good, nutritious food in the house, and prep it, prepare it, and eat it, I will lean towards the fast junk food.

So then Keebler or Lil Debbie or Big Cheese (lol) or Red Baron, etc ad nauseam is feeding me. But here’s the kicker: those companies don’t care about me and my health and well-being.

So the question turns and becomes – Who is NOURISHING me? And that for sure is only me food-wise. Family, some friends, some work do nourish me. But taking care of my body with nutrients and attention and care is 100% on me. Packaged-food companies don’t get paid for that. They get paid when there IS NOT nourishment!

I saw Melissa Etheridge in concert tonight. And I realized a lot of her songs have the word “You” in them. Which is often a reference to girlfriends of hers. But it is Brill Bill bc it also engages the audience as the “You.” And the audience members also have “You’s” in their lives. So it becomes universally themed,  rather than “I, Melissa.” Thus appealing to a potentially far reaching fan base.

And so I ask, Who Is Feeding, YOU? Who is nourishing YOU? So much of it cannot come from outside sources. So much has to be (learned) self-care and (learned) grit.

So much self-care seems to be learned. I’ll often find that massage clients don’t know how to relax when they are new to massage or haven’t had a massage in quite a while. Their bodies are not trained towards letting go, sinking, deep relaxation.

Massage is interesting in that it is care by an outside source, yet you get so much more out of it if you yourself have learned to let go and relax yourself.

I am an anxious person who has learned lots of self-care and relaxing techniques over my career. I havent figure out if I’ve always been this way or slowly became this way at some point as an adult. And now I am anxious about a professional massage therapy big gig coming up. Of course, I will use all of my personal resources to quell this worry.

Doing this mental work, I’ve had a realization in the last 24 hours, that I will do what is necessary and certainly to the best of my ability. And if I’m asked to go beyond my ability at this event, I have the right and wherewithal to limit it and say no. The anxious brain tells me: “Oh, the world may fall apart. Maybe I’ll be shamed and have my whole professional life ripped from me.” But more likely is that it will just all be okay. Ot at least somewhere in-between, in the middle.

It is so easy to ‘forget’ some of my greater personal attributes. These include how quick my body is to heal. AND how much deep breathwork and focused visualization play a huge role in the successful endeavors throughout my life. See it. Do it. This gig is one of those times.

I signed up for this work gig because, frankly, I wanted the income. But I also wanted the Challenge. To keep me focused, motivated, and pointed in the right direction.

So the question to ask daily is, “Who’s Nourishing You?” Who is taking the time to put the correct nutrients, thoughts, and benefits into your body. And when the answer is Yourself, then get busy buying the best groceries, prepping that food, making that dinner. 👌

Such a simple concept, she thought…

When I chose the name Catch Healthy as the descriptor for my business, I thought it was quite obvious why. But every client that I’ve talked to has asked about it, so it was not obvious to other people. We hear the phrase ‘I am catching a cold.’ It means I have some symptoms coming on of a sickness, such as scratchy throat, cough, stuffy nose, among others. It also shows that we spread or “catch” sicknesses from other humans. I want people to “catch” healthy from each other. I want the words our of your mouth to be powerful instigators of great health residing in your body! Ideally the idea of “catching” healthy would apply to not only the immune system, but also to all the human body systems as well as spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and in our physical world and surroundings. There is a concept and newer science called epigenetics. This is the study that we have some control to change our DNA destiny. In the past it would seem a forgone conclusion that is my Mom had diabetes, I would probably also. It is ‘in my genes.’ There is a huge statistical likelihood that I will present with diabetes one day. I absolutely fight that. I fight it with my food and nutrient choices. And I fight it with a mental change, with meditation and with prayer. There are a lot of powerful forces available to us that are not always accessed. Two of those are self-education on the ability to heal and a change of mindset. These are what I mean by Catch Healthy. I want to be the teacher and the driver of helping people have a change of mindset. I want us to ‘catch’ health from each other.

‘Cuppa

beverage, tea, breakfast

Making a cup of tea is similar to allowing the universe to blend into your being and activate healing.

To make a basic cup of tea, a tea bag is steeped in hot water. But making an IDEAL cup of tea requires attention to detail combined with the intention to create something special. Using purified water heated to the perfect temperature, adding just the right amount of organic loose-leaf tea to a strainer, inhaling the aroma as the gentle water extracts all the goodness, adding a bit of cream or honey to sweeten…all of these things can elevate a basic cup of tea and turn it into something special. Watching it all unfold in a rich swirl of warmth is healing in and of itself.

When we live with intention, life can take on a greater depth and deeper sense of meaning.

Healing with intention can be this way, too.

In our day to day lives, there are often mindless rituals and things we simply “get through”. But by living with intention, we can create our ideal life, one that encourages healing in its embrace of warmth and earthiness and sweetness. It is a swirl and a dance that creates peace and a feeling not of merely settling, but of being-settled. ❤

Meditation for Beginners

The Benefits of Meditation

Meditation is great for the body and the mind. It is proven to reduce the stress-inducing hormone cortisol. Steady breathing can lower your heart rate and blood pressure. Meditation can relax your muscles and boost your immune system, a by-product of reducing stress. It also increases positive emotions, increases your focus, and increases empathy and compassion. Over time it can also help you to be more self-aware and mindful in your everyday actions.

There are many different types of meditation, such as concentration meditation, which involves focusing on a single point, or thought and mindfulness meditation, which urges the practitioner to be aware of their current surroundings and stay present while using the breath to bring calmness within. There isn’t a single right way to meditate, but if you are a beginner, here is a great place to start:

Location: You can be outside or inside; just find a comfortable place to stand, sit, or lie. Take note of your posture, making sure you aren’t straining yourself. Make sure your neck is relaxed and your chin is tucked slightly in.

Duration: When you’re first starting out, do not stress about how long you can meditate. To start, aim for 5 or 10 minutes—however long you feel you can sit in silence and relax your mind. There are many apps to help guide you with meditation, like Headspace, Calm, or Simple Habit. Once you start to feel more comfortable with meditation, you can increase your duration if you want to.

What to do during your meditation: Before you start, set an intention. How do you want to feel after your session? Do you want to feel less stressed, happier, more grateful? Set your intention and then clear your mind and focus on that. Start breathing without trying to control it; just try to focus on the inhales and the exhales and the rise and fall of your chest. If your mind starts to wander back to your massive to-do list, or the worries in your mind, just come back to your breath and your intention.

After meditating: Congratulate yourself for doing something good for your mind and body. Take the feeling you have in that moment and carry it with you through the rest of your day. If you experience any stresses throughout the day, come back to your breath.

The more you practice meditation, the better you will feel. The better you feel, the more you will understand how your mind thinks and feels—and the more you can take steps toward a healthier and happier life with increased clarity, calm, and compassion.

Good luck and happy meditation!

Soul Decluttering

stones, stone, tower

I stopped by my friend’s house the other day. I agreed to come over and help her do a little decluttering. When I arrived she was outside on her balcony. It is a large, spacious balcony that directly overlooks pedestrians, cars, and all the activity in her neighborhood. When I joined her, I noticed she was making something. It was a scarecrow in the shape of a student sitting in a chair, raising their hand for the teacher to call on them.

Why an urban scarecrow? Well, we are right in the middle of the Coronavirus pandemic and small businesses, countless services, and entire industries are being shut down. Schools are closed for the remainder of the school year. And for some reason known only to her, my friend felt called to create art – a homage to the students. I think it was meant to be a sort of encouragement for people. She already had the body, legs, and the desk set up. So I helped her to figure out what we could use to make arms and a head and make it appear life-like.

It turned out great and was wonderfully creative! (Surprisingly, the glue we used held in the 30 degree cold weather!) I am proud that I was able to collaborate with her. She had an image of what she wanted her project to look like, and I was able to support her, sharing my own creativity and using my background as an artist to help her to create the final piece.

This scarecrow project is a metaphor for what Guided Imagery is: You know how your life and health are now, and you have an image of what you would like your life and health to become. Guided Imagery is the bridge between the knowing and the wanting, it is the connection that brings the two together. Our brains are incredibly strong and decisive and can lead us in any given direction. Guided Imagery facilitates the movement of your thoughts and actions in the desired direction, rather than toward one of fear and/or stress. Guided Imagery fosters a sense of relaxation. As we work together, we engage your nervous system and your brain as I incorporate all of my years of healing to help you realize the IMAGE you have of yourself, enjoying the level of health you desire and the life that you deserve. Let’s work together towards your highest good! ❤

Dear friends,

  • This is letter written by a longtime Shaklee distributor in response to all the health concerns from customers and friends at this time in the world. Please read to the end. Invaluable information:

Dear Friends,

Just wanted to get in touch and say that like our family, I’m sure you’re deeply concerned about the health crisis and how it will impact your life.  We’re getting calls every day from friends, family, even customers we haven’t heard from in a while — asking what they should do to get healthy and boost their immune systems. So, we thought you might benefit from information you can trust about how good nutrition and specific supplements can help ramp up your immune system pretty quickly.

With all the hype and mis-information out there … it’s difficult to know who you can trust to give you true, actionable information. So be careful out there. The bottom line seems to be three things …  social distancing, CDC hygiene guidelines, and building immunity.

So, I’ll get right to the heart of the matter and talk about specific critical nutrients that have been scientifically proven to help boost your immune system. But first … I want to be clear about how diet and supplements effect coronavirus.

Fact: This is a new strain of the coronaviruses and our bodies don’t yet have antibodies to totally defend against it.

Fact: A strong and healthy immune system alone is not a guarantee you will not contract this virus.

However, the strength of your immune system is critical. By far, the highest percentage of people not surviving this illness are those with weakened and suppressed immune systems. The takeaway is that a strong and healthy immune system can help your body recover faster than if it’s weak and compromised.

So, what can we do?

Here’s a short list (and brief description) of essential nutrients we know will boost immunity and give your body the best chance of fighting back.

Protein

Getting enough high-quality protein every day should be a priority.

We normally don’t think of protein as an immune booster. Why? Because your immune system antibodies and other immune system fighters are dependent on protein for their structures and function.

How much do you need?

Age, weight, and activity levels are all factors in determining how much protein you need … but the consensus seems to be that 40-50 grams of high-quality protein every day will help build the foundation for a healthy immune response.

Some say (especially athletes) you need more, but 40-50 grams a day is a good starting point.  And remember … protein is one area of nutrition in which quality really counts.

Vitamin A

Among the micronutrients, vitamin A plays a key role in normal immune function … but it also plays a key role in cellular differentiation, growth, reproduction, maintenance of epithelial surfaces, and vision.

Vitamin A is found as preformed vitamin A in foods like liver, cod-liver oil, butter, eggs, and dairy products and you get provitamin A carotenoids in foods like spinach, carrots, orange fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin C

Research shows higher levels of Vitamin C can definitely help boost your immunity. It can also reduce the severity of allergies, and help you fight off other infections. The more we learn about Vitamin C and its effects on this virus, the more our scientific community is thinking Dr. Linus Pauling might have been right all along.

Right now, to protect you 24/7 … you want a minimum of 2-3 grams per day in a sustained-release form. There are reports that some people diagnosed with the virus are being given intravenous C infusions.

So, let’s be sure to get at least 2-3 grams per day.

Vitamin D

Research shows Vitamin D3 is one nutrient you must have to build strong immune health.  It’s far more important than scientist previously understood. Most of us are woefully short on D3 … and that’s because you simply can’t get all the D3 you need from food.

To get a significant boost in immune levels, you need to do two things … get lots of sunshine and additional vitamin D3 from high quality supplements.

The only way to know for sure what your D levels are and exactly how much you need, is to have your doctor test for them.  When you do test … make sure to keep your D3 numbers between 60-95.

But don’t wait for the testing … starting now, consider supplementing with at least 2,000 iu’s per day. That’s what the latest science is showing. The good news is Vitamin D3 is inexpensive, totally safe to take … and can really help ramp up your immunity.

Green Tea

According to new research from Oregon State University, natural, plant-derived compounds found in green tea have a powerful ability to increase the number of “regulatory T cells” that play a key role in immune function. Pharmaceutical drugs are available that perform similar roles and have been the subject of lots of research, but scientists say they have problems with toxicity.

Probiotics

Did you know your gut houses 70% of the cells that make up your immune system?

That’s why if you want to fix your health, a great place to start is with your gut. Healthy gut flora is crucial for optimal gut health and gut bacteria thrive on what you feed them … which means your immune system works best when you get enough “good” bacteria (probiotics).

Not just any probiotic supplement will do the trick, because studies show the live cultures in most probiotics never survive your stomach acid on the way to the gut … making them worthless.

So … please don’t be fooled by the number of CFU’s you see on the label … it’s all about the number of live cultures that survive the trip.

Shaklee’s probiotic, Optiflora DI, gives you 10 billion CFU’s.  That’s 10 billion CFU’s that have been tested and proven to survive stomach acid.

What if you could ramp up your immune system in just 3 days?

Let’s talk interferon…

Most people are not familiar with what science calls signaling proteins in our bodies called interferon.

This discovery was made in 1954 by world renowned immunologist Dr. Yashuhiko Kojima in Japan. Because interferon directs our immune cells and activates immune responses to help fight off pathogens. It has been referred to as the “brains” behind our immune system.

Unfortunately, as we age our bodies produce less and less interferon, and that’s why our immunity is compromised.

Ask any cancer patient, and they call tell you about interferon … because chemo treatment lowers immunity, and the drug form of interferon is often used to boost the immune system. The problem with interferon as a drug is severe side effects.

Why am I telling you this?

Because following his discovery of interferon and its role in boosting immunity, Dr. Kojima spent 40 years creating a natural, plant-based formula designed to increase the production of interferons we have in our bodies.

The formula he created is an immune building complex called NutriFeron … and it’s a Shaklee world exclusive. Four clinical trials show NutriFeron stimulates every cell in your body to produce more interferon and strengthen the defense system we already have. And no side effects.

In addition to essential nutrition, If I could choose only one product to boost my immune system, it would be NutriFeron … but let’s not forget …   because every cell in our body needs to be healthy to fight the good fight, good overall health is the best place to start in building immunity.

That means diet, exercise, sleep, sunshine, and a positive outlook on life. Laughter helps 🙂

The simplest and best way I know to build strong foundational health is with two products that have been Shaklee’s most popular for more than 60 years. These two products contain at least 100% of the nutrients mentioned above … and much more …

Vitalizer and LifeShake

Let’s start with Vitalizer … it’s loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, phytonutrients, omega-3 fatty acids, probiotics, and more. The Vitalizer formula is based on 12 clinical studies and the Landmark Supplement Study from U.C. Berkeley School of Public Health.

The perfect companion is LifeShake. Having a good supply of LifeShake smoothies on hand is the one big reason why Shaklee users are less concerned about staying healthy if the grocery store shelves are empty. The formula makes it a perfect meal, and long shelf life makes it the ultimate food storage product.

Why do we call it the perfect meal? Because in every serving, you get 23 essential vitamins and minerals … and …  here’s the kicker … 20 grams of ultra-pure, non-GMO protein with precise ratios of all 9 essential amino acids.

From a nutrition point of view, it’s the best meal you could possibly have. And … the kids love, love, love it.

Again … your immune system antibodies and cells rely heavily on protein. And if you find yourself with symptoms of weakness, fatigue, apathy, and lowered immunity … there’s a good chance you’re not getting enough protein.

We guarantee you’ll feel better and have more energy … and by the way ladies … if you want stronger nails, and thicker, shinier hair … it’s LifeShake.

And … if you suffer from irregularity or digestive comfort, LifeShake is your new best friend. You’ll get a proprietary prebiotic blend of ancient grains for fibre … plus added digestive enzymes to help you better digest the protein. Very cool!

It’s also low glycemic … really important if you’re at all concerned about your blood sugar levels. And with strong immunity a key factor in dealing with any virus … and you should be.

Many reports are saying high blood sugar levels is key factors in those struggling with or not surviving coronavirus illness.

There are a few other products we can talk about if you want … but for now, in addition to CDC guidelines and supplements, let me just add a couple of other helpful tidbits you might want to pay attention to…

Toxins lower your immunity

You might want to eliminate every cleaning product in your home if it’s chemical-based and toxic. These chemicals can whack your immune system.

And while you’re at it … eliminate all toxic products used on your body that trigger inflammation in the tissue/cell membrane. Think … hair care products, skin care, make-up, fragrances, etc.

And by all means, please avoid toxic cleaning and laundry products and things like synthetic air fresheners, plug-ins, etc.

We can show you how to do this.

Limit (or eliminate) sugar

I know … this may be the most difficult of all to do … right?

We’re addicted … but did you know sugar decreases your immune system’s ability to function almost immediately by inhibiting the activity of important immune cells?

Here’s a stunning find: One study showed the amount of sugar found in just 2 sweetened beverages lowers immune response by 50% for up to five hours! Wow!

Try to get at least 6-8 hours of good sleep every day:

Here’s why.  Both stress and lack of sleep raise cortisol levels in your body. Elevated cortisol levels suppress your immune function. When you sleep, you de-stress … and cortisol levels drop … repairing cells that are critical to good immune function. Relax 🙂

Get moderate exercise every day:

Set you cell phone intervals to remind you to keep moving as much as you can.

Exercise is critical because it increases circulation, promotes the elimination of toxins, and helps to move immune cells through your body faster.

Exercise also reduces stress, keeps your cortisol levels down, and helps your immune system fight off all types of infection.

So that’s it for now…

These are stressful and trying times … but I do hope some of this information is helpful.
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us any time.
Stay healthy and safe,

We Don’t Do This Alone (Raccoon Gang)

raccoon, wildlife, tree

Several years ago, I had some raccoons making an apartment of my chimney. Fortunately for me, it is sealed off from inside the house, and non-functional as a fireplace. They had snuggled down from the roof to enjoy it because, as there was no chimney cap at the time, they had easy access.

It was summer, so my upstairs windows were open. I was in bed one night when I heard my cat start yowling. I jumped up, ran over to the window and saw a raccoon clawing at the window screen. He was ready and willing to come inside and eat my cat’s food that was sitting nearby.

***************

All of a sudden, this memory from long ago popped into my mind. One summer, back when I was in college, I worked on my Uncle’s farm. I earned $500 which I use to buy myself a fancy bicycle. I biked all around the area during my free time. And I often had country dogs chasing me, quite frighteningly nipping at my heels. I learned to carry a long metal pole and a loud, ferocious voice. Swinging that pole and shouting meaner and louder than those dogs let them know who was boss. They would run away. I had won.

***************

I assumed doing the same would work with this raccoon. Anyone who has dealt with racoons is already shaking their heads. But bear with me.

He seemed like a sweet little young guy. Surely it would bow to my gruff human superiority. I slammed the wood of the side of the open window with my bare palm and yelled “GIT!” – This is seemingly the universal yell of human hierarchy.

The sweet little racoon stared back at me, wondering when I would leave already. So I slammed the window closed and yelled “GIT, I said!” even louder. Adding the “I said” was the frosting on the brownie, or so I thought.

Nope. This made that raccoon hiss at me and flare up somewhat. Just like that, I closed and locked all my windows and spent a very hot, long summer inside hoping I wasn’t being stalked.

****************

As the temperatures soared and my fear started to quell, I created the “Raccoon Gang”. Membership was strictly for any of my friends who were badass and didn’t put up with trifling humans.  It became a funny theme among us. One year, in my Christmas stocking, I received these odd shaped goggles (see picture) from my older sister. She labeled them the ‘Official Raccoon Gang Mask.’

****************

Wearing (or at least having in one’s possession) the Raccoon Gang Mask would eventually become a tradition. It would be passed around among my friends when they needed particular cheering up, or reminded of their “badassery”. The mask now sits in my office and serves as a reminder to me that with our bonds of friendship, our support systems, people we can call on and rely on no matter what, we are stronger together. That no one does it all alone. That we need each other to keep life moving in the right direction.

Hello world!

Modern medicine is amazing, but sometimes we fail to acknowledge that it is a response to sickness, rather than an attempt to achieve wellness. It’s time to break through that brick wall of thought that tells us that all we need to get well are pills and scientific studies. Instead, we need an integrative approach that allows us to feed and nourish both our bodies and our souls.

Hi! I’m Sarah, the therapist behind Catch Healthy. Welcome to our corner of the internet. This is our place to connect.  Join me on this journey of healing through remote therapy, guided visualizations, and supportive services not limited by the traditional confines of time, space, and distance.

What if you could lighten the load of the burdens you carry in life? What if you could experience calm amongst the chaos? What if you could experience peace of mind and peace of heart?

“The Big Idea: Energy, by its nature, is able to be worked with and influenced over long distances.”

The underlying theme that has shaped my philosophy is this: Everything is made up of energy. Energy is all around us and can be accessed from near or far to influence healing on physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual planes. Under the right circumstances, the physical, emotional, energetic, and spiritual bodies glide towards health. ALWAYS! My approach is to guide you and help facilitate the creation of circumstances that will support you on this journey toward health.

Just like you have studied your career and work all these years, this has been my study and career.

How did I get started in this field? I got on this path seemingly by chance. My massage school had introduced me to these ideas through basic Eastern medical philosophies and Nuat Thai massage. Then, as a new Massage Therapist in Atlanta, I met Sabrina, a Reiki Master and wonderful healer, who would become my Reiki teacher. This was the turning point when I became trained in remote healing.

Throughout the years, I have continued to explore new techniques in both in-person and distance healing therapies. There are two modalities of energetic work that have made a significant impact; they are the Silva Method by Jose Silva, and Pranic Healing with Master Stephen Co. These are techniques I use on myself, my loved ones, and my clients. I have seen these techniques help time after time in my years as a Massage Therapist and Reiki Master.

Now, after holding thousands of in-person healing and therapeutic sessions, I am expanding my services to help those who can not come see me in person. What if you have never heard of these modalities or are not familiar with them? That’s ok. You don’t have to know what they are in order to benefit from them. All that is required of you is an open mind, some receptivity, and willingness to receive healing energy.
